Really well-hidden gems

Admittedly, not the best photo I've ever taken.
Admittedly, not the best photo I’ve ever taken.

A few weeks ago I picked up this “Hidden Gems” nail polish from L’Oreal because it was really different from any color I already had in my collection. A deep, glittery teal with a purple sheen and silver glitter, it was like a galaxy full of stars. I had to pick it up! Then the other day I figured I’d use it on my toenails because I was going to wear a teal costume for the Every Body’s Beautiful Revue, and my teal pants had a touch of purple in them, so this would be perfect, right?

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a nail polish be so different on the nail than how it looks in the bottle! This color has a weird, almost semi-matte finish, even after I put a top-coat on. The teal glitter only shows in the bright light, and there’s no hint of purple. It’s still kind of pretty, but it’s not remotely like what I thought I was purchasing. It’s also way too dark for Spring, so I think I’ll remove it this weekend and replace it with something more fun and awesome.

The color does at least seem to be holding up well after a week of wear. I applied two coats, sandwiched between Formula X base and top coat. So the quality seems ok for a $7 nail polish, I’m just not impressed by the color or the level of glitter.

      Hi Tarah!

I’ve found a plugin that looks like it will let me add a blog lovin button and other useful buttons, but it’s going to take me some time to figure it out. Hopefully I’ll be able to have it up and running sometime next week.
