I’ve been working on my new June goals for a week. How’s that going?
Goal 1: Do the “Raq Steady” series on Datura Online. Well, after analyzing my practices this week, I think right now I’d actually be better served by spending this month going way back to basics. I haven’t been drilling much lately and that means a lot of the building blocks of my dance are not as clean and strong as I’d like them to be. So instead, I will be drilling those. But I do want to still add some DO stuff to my practice, it will just be shorter, more focused videos.
Goal 2: Sparkle bra! All supplies have arrived, so it’s time to start building a bra. That should happen today.
Goal 3: BreakOut Studios. I went to Open Hip Hop on Weds and DJ Dance Cardio & Rejuvenating Stretch last week. This week I will throw ballet back into the mix and maybe some drum cardio and femme cardio? We’ll see.
Goal 4: Drill locks. I’ve done a little bit of this, but I got distracted by the Daily Bellydance Quickies Shimmy Challenge. I did layer some locks on top of my shimmies a couple of times, so all was not lost. And with my new focus on basics, there will be lots of work with locks.
Goal 5: One new song found, more to go. Sadly, I did not get to perform to my new song on Thursday, as we had some technical difficulties that had us running late, so Ashley and I made the decision to cut one of my solos to make more time in the schedule. I still plan to dance to it on June 21st though.
Goal 6: Put away the costumes. Uhm, yeah, about that… Good thing there’s still plenty of time left in the month.
Goal 7: Makeup twice a week and beauty blogs. I did my makeup once and did a beauty blog, so that’s close!
I’d say that’s a pretty good start. In addition to working on my goals, I did some website work on Saturday morning, some dance-related reading off and on during the week, and the aforementioned DBQ challenge which was 5 days of 5 minutes of shimmies with one thing layered on each day (arms, chest, etc). Plus a guest post over on Belly Dance at Any Size about the 90 Day Dance Challenge, which I am still doing. I am back in the saddle!
