Uhm, hi

Feeling overwhelmed... I might faint.
Feeling overwhelmed… I might faint.

So yesterday I wrote a blog post, and I shared it, and then another dancer saw it and she shared it, and she had lots of dancer friends and they shared it, and their friends shared it, and so on and so on, to the point where my little blog got thousands of views when it normally gets… tens of views.

To say that I am a little overwhelmed by this response is an understatement. In fact, as I posted it, my thought was not “Wow, I bet everyone is going to love this!” but “I sure hope I didn’t just put my foot in my mouth” which is how I feel every time I write an opinion post. Why? Well, if you state a poorly-formed opinion to a friend, and then regret it, it’s easy to say “Wait, sorry, that sounded better in my head than it did in my mouth” and your friend will probably just let it go. But if you say something dumb on the internet, well, even if you realize it later and delete the post, it’s too late, people have already seen it and shared it and you can’t track down and apologize to everyone you offended.

I’m happy that my post yesterday was well-received. I’m happy that a lot of people shared it, and had discussions about it on Facebook and left nice comments on my blog and “liked” my fan page. But now I have this feeling of “well now what?” Because what if some of those thousands of people have decided to stick around and keep an eye on my blog? I feel an intense pressure to be witty and insightful and entertaining today, but I’ve got nothing. How about a picture of my cat?

But seriously, I hope some of you did stick around. I usually come up with something opinionated to say every couple of weeks, I’m 2/3 of the way through a 90 day dance challenge, and I review makeup every Friday. Plus cat pictures. What’s not to love?

firsts cats, now what?, overwhelm, that time I sort of went viral Leave a comment
