I picked this product up on my most recent Sephora trip because I had seen it recommended as a great product to included in a makeup kit for the budding tween or teen makeup addict. I had never heard of it but it sounded pretty cool and it was really affordable, so I wanted to give it a try!

Smith’s Rosebud Salve Balm is one of those old fashioned all-purpose products. It even has old fashioned packaging — it usually comes in a tin! However, I chose the tube as I feel it’s more sanitary. Tins always seem to get grimy, with dust or cat hair sneaking in no matter how careful I am, and because of the wider surface area, they’re more likely to grow bacteria. Ick. A tube is cleaner, and it’s pretty portable, too.

So far, I’ve tried it on my lips, cuticles, hands and elbows. You can also apparently use it on cuts, scrapes, burns and rashes. It seems like the ideal thing to keep in your gig bag for all sorts of minor skin injuries or complaints! It has a pretty pink color and a pleasing mild rose scent, and a little goes a long way. I’ll squeeze a dab the size of a small pea onto my hand and that’s enough to get both elbows.

If you want to use it as a lip balm, it has the angled applicator that makes this easy to apply directly to the lips, or you can squeeze a bit out onto your hand and apply it with a finger or brush.

Some people apparently even use it on their lashes, as a conditioning product, but I haven’t tried that yet.

If you like the scent of roses, and simple multi-purpose products, you should definitely pick this one up. I’m sure glad I did!
