Hello from Redlands CA! The first day of my trip to Sebastopol is complete and I am writing this blog post from my crappy hotel room. I’m using the tiny Bluetooth keyboard on my tablet, which is awesome except that the tablet insists on still displaying the keyboard on my screen so I can’t see half of this post.
So let me tell you a little bit about my journey so far. It was really windy today and gusts of wind kept catching the loose rear fender of my car and pulling it free, requiring me to stop and shove it back into place. I think it’s now more secure than it was when I started this trip.
On one of these stops, Chris texted me to point out that I had left the bag with my food and tea fixings on the dining room table. I knew I was forgetting something! Since I was already in CA at the time, there was nothing I could do about it.
There is a whole lot of stretches of nothing on this drive, so it’s a good thing I have an audio book to keep me sane. I spent most of today’s ride listening to The Golem and the Djinni and it should be long enough to last all the way there and back if I don’t give in to temptation to listen to it while not driving.
I was happy to find lots of food within walking distance of the hotel because I was sure tired of driving by the time I got here. I was even happier when I found a self-serve yogurt place with thin mint flavored yogurt. Yuuuuum. Then I came back and took a shower and it was a good thing I didn’t want to shampoo my hair because the showerhead was so low that I would have had to do a backbend to rinse properly. Oh cheap hotels, you’re so weird.
Now it’s time to do some sort of practice and then go to sleep so I can get up and do the second leg of my drive tomorrow!
